THINGS TO DO

The Avalon Wilderness Reserve is known for it's massive caribou herd. It's also an excellent place for hiking, fishing, hunting, and bird and wildlife viewing. Besides caribou, you might see moose, partridges, and a variety of waterfowl.

Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve is an excellent location for viewing nesting seabirds close up. The reserve is home to thousands of seabirds, including Northern gannet, cormorants, black-legged kittiwakes, and common murre. Many of these species can be viewed within 10 meters.

Witless Bay Ecological Reserve has the largest Atlantic puffin colony in North America. It also has one of the largest Leach's storm petrel colonies in the world. The reserve is less than an hour from Inn by the Bay, and has a number of tour boat companies that offer you a closer look at the reserve's wildlife.
